Lifeline® is a supportive
home contact service for people with special needs and to promote independent
and secure living at home. LIFELINE® Systems was founded in 1974 by
Dr. Andrew A. Dibner, who wanted to create a service that would allow
the elderly and those with disabilities to continue living in their own

How Does Lifeline Work?
| |
The local program manager will install unit
and demonstrate |
| |
Subscribers wear a waterproof "personal
help button" either around neck or wrist |
| |
When subscriber presses button, the unit dials
a toll-free number to the Lifeline® Response Center. The unit sends
a unique code to the center's computer which identifies the subscriber
placing the call. The computer then displays the subscriber's information,
so that the "monitor" will be able to address the subscriber
by name and determine the purpose of the call. |
| |
The "monitor" will notify either the responder
(family member, friend or neighbor) or proceed to contact the appropriate
emergency personnel needed. |
